Grand Junction, CO - D51 STEM is proud to sponsor the largest FIRST Lego League Challenge Tournament in the state, happening this weekend. The tournament, which will welcome more than 400 4th-8th grade students, offers an exhilarating experience for students passionate about hands-on STEM education.
This year's theme: "Masterpiece," explores the captivating integration of the arts and the world of STEM. Students have been delving into how technology, innovation, and engineering influence fields like music, theatre, digital design, movies, entertainment, and more. And in doing so, they are pushing the conventional boundaries that often separate the worlds of art and science.
In addition to the robotics competitions, attendees can explore the impressive CMU Mesa Motorsports Car, available for viewing near the entrance, and enjoy various food trucks.
The substantial support from our community further demonstrates D51 STEM's commitment to fostering this love for STEM. Over 90 dedicated volunteers, including professors and students from CMU (Colorado Mesa University), RSVP volunteers, numerous D51 teachers and staff members, and the Hi-Fives FIRST Robotics Challenge Team, are joining together to ensure the success of this tournament.
FIRST, which stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology," has driven the excitement and passion for STEM education, offering a unique and engaging experience for all.
When: Saturday, Nov. 11, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Opening Ceremony/Robot Game starts at 12:45 p.m.)
