The District Wellness Advisory Committee

During the 2016-2017 school year, Dan Sharp (D51 Director of Nutrition Services) and Vanessa Carter (Nutritionist with Appleton Clinics) wrote a planning grant through the Colorado Health Foundation to update the D51 Wellness Policy. (Click here for a link to the current policy) After being awarded the grant funding, Ayme Zortman was hired as the Wellness Coordinator as well as the Health & Physical Education Content Facilitator.

During the 2017-2018 school year, the District Wellness Advisory Committee (DWAC) was developed and began meeting to learn about The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model.  The job of the DWAC during the 2018-2019 school year will be to update the current D51 Wellness Policy and to support schools to become healthier communities for their students.

If you have any questions regarding the District Wellness Advisory Committee or the WSCC Model, please contact Ayme Zortman at ext 13126 or [email protected]
